‘THE PALACE OF GOD’
School: Adolphe de Plevitz SSS
Dimension: 60 x 80cm
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Age: 18

The palace of God is an artwork which is representative of the place of worship, where I find peace of mind. The main emphasis is on the guardians who protect the palace of God. It is highly vibrant and colorful artwork. The blue color represents serenity and peace. Life is a balance and without peace of mind, there is no happiness. Whenever, I am at the ‘Palace of God’ I feel liberated and freedom from all worries.

Since I was a kid I was told stories about be the legendary place Kaaba, by my parents. I was taught to go in the righteous way and earn good deeds. It is one of my parents’ dream to bring the whole family to see Kaaba someday; inspiration for this pray artwork has come from my religion and my beliefs. Each design has been crafted to the highest quality in design. It encompasses works created for patrons of faith. Kaaba is the muslim’s most sacred site because it represents the metaphorical house of God and the oneness of God.

Ecstasy every so often we felt in our childhood. Perhaps later we forgot in adulthood. The reason that made us swing uneneded. That freedom once we had as a child . On the sing where we smiled . Made us want to touch the sky .Even when it seemed so high . That sentient that made us jolly . Like we do not have to worry . Every now we need such a blessing . An ecstasy that keeps us blooming.

Mamma!
School: Pamplemousses SSS
Dimension: 142 x 106cm
Medium: Mixed media on canvas
Age: 18

This picture radiates a mother and daughter’s delight as the mother introduces her daughter to the marvels of nature. The tender daughter cheers at the sight of a dolphin jumping out of her mother and splashing her with refreshing sea water. The scene exudes the happiness of a mother and daughter’s time together and their real, strong and pure bond of true unconditional love for a lifetime. The young daughter’s Mamma or mother is her guide, her motivator, her protector and her educator. The mother’s hair merges with a forest scape from which the national Mauritian endemic bird the Kestrel has emerged and the national endemic flower a Trochetia adorns her hair. This metaphorizes the mother-daughter bond with mother nature, love for all her beautiful creations and creatures on Earth. The layered peacock paper sculpture is symbolic of mother nature and power of regrowth, rejuvenation, royalty, respect, honour and utmost integrity.

I am inspired by my dreams and imagination that allow me to inhabit a wholly different world. In this piece, I did a self portrait blended with a lot of fantasy. In this artwork I may look lonely but the light, colour, peace and hope gives me freedom. I believe my imagination keeps me company till the end of my journey.

The beginning of our yes forever
School: College Bon et Perpetuel Secours
Dimension: 60 x 90cm
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Age: 16

“The Beginning Of Our Yes Forever”; is my own creation since I wanted to present an original theme that is necessarily common as artwork. Marriage is something in which people engage in forever and the wedding day is a special day for everyone who will get married. That`s why I wanted to express a composition of a couple who had just married, at sunset on that special day. My artwork show the beginning of a life together, happiness and memorable moments. I have used acrylic paint to apply gouache technique for my artwork. As in a wedding, the cake is important; I place the cake in the foreground to show the aspect of focusing on the camera to take a shot of the cake , the newlyweds in the background create an amazing panoramic view.

Motherhood is the affectionate feelings of love and care that torment the mind of the woman who constantly thinks about her baby. The womb invites us inside the mind of a woman illuminating the beginning of a new story in the form of life.
