The ‘GameChanger’ Programme is a new initiative aimed at empowering teenagers and young adults from marginalized communities. It offers a platform for them to showcase their talents and pursue their career aspirations, with valuable support from HSBC volunteers.

To enhance this programme, the HSBC Bank Foundation brings our skilled team of expressive arts therapists. They lead a series of creative workshops specifically designed for 50 beneficiaries of the Love 21 Foundation, all of whom are members of the Down syndrome and autistic community.

The workshops help participants uncover their interests, dreams, talents, and strengths while exploring self-understanding through expressive arts. The goal is to guide participants in finding their career paths by discovering their passions, abilities, and sense of self.

Over four sessions, the MIB team guides the beneficiaries to create life-sized self-portraits. This exercise encourages self-reflection and helps them uncover their strengths using creative imagery. Through this captivating process, initially hesitant participants transform into proactive, engaged artists, radiating confidence and assertiveness as they showcase their work and share their newfound passions with their mentors.

The self-portraits created during the workshops demonstrate the power of art as a medium for self-expression and personal growth. Incorporating a variety of materials, imagery, and colors, each artwork conveys a unique story. The creative process extends beyond painting, as participants also explore movement and sound to express themselves in new ways. These immersive expressive art workshops allow participants to gain a better understanding of themselves, helping them explore and embrace previously unknown inner strengths and abilities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the HSBC Bank Foundation for providing us with the funding to participate in the programme and to the volunteers who assisted us on the day!
